August 2018 Webinar [#SciEngage]
On August 17, 2018, AAAS and the National Academy of Sciences organized a virtual session to discussion approaches to community engagement that leads to behavioral shifts used by the public health field. Hosted by Kishore Hari, the session featured presenters Dr. Melody Goodman (Associate Professor of Biostatistics, NYU College of Global Public Health) and Dr. Jess Holzer (Assistant Professor of Health Professions at Hofstra University). We discussed some best practices, including how to garner trust and how to work with communities in need, and looked at models that may be adaptable to public engagement with science.
