The US government has a comprehensive website on how to make your own web resources '508 compliant'. This means making sure that they're accessible to people with disabilities and the many ways that you can be missing the mark without meaning to. This is a great resource for checking what you have, how to bring your site up to compliance and also some things to think about when creating new products and how you can be better accessible.
